Harvard Medical School-Partners HealthCare Center for Genetics and Genomics to Implement Waban Leading Edge Life Sciences Management Information System

CAMBRIDGE, MA (February 23, 2003) - Waban Software, a provider of leading edge software solutions for the capture, management, integration and analysis of clinical and drug discovery data, and Partners HealthCare, an integrated health care network
founded by Harvard Medical School teaching affiliates Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital, today announced an agreement to use Waban's products at the Harvard Medical School- Partners HealthCare Center for Genetics and Genomics (HPCGG).

Under the agreement, Waban's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) will be used to support the clinical and operational needs of the HPCGG Laboratory for Molecular Medicine (LMM). The Waban LIMS will initially be deployed at the LMM, a CLIA certified clinical facility at HPCGG, and will be used to manage the development and delivery of tests for complex diseases, as well as traditional single gene disorders at LMM. Tests at LMM will be developed and overseen by scientists in a variety of areas of medical research.

"Waban is delighted to have the opportunity to participate in HPCGG's mission to promote genetics and genomics in research and clinical medicine by providing our infrastructure software solutions," said Himanshu Oberoi, Ph.D., President of Waban Software. "Waban LIMS integrates state-of-the-art technologies used in pharmacogenomics, genomics and proteomics with clinical regulation compliance to support requirements specific to clinical genotyping like DNA banking, chain of custody, informed consent, and anonymization."

According to Raju Kucherlapati, Scientific Director of HPCGG, "HPCGG's goal is to translate the science of genetics and genomics into new clinical tools to care for patients. It is key for HPCGG scientists and clinicians to have the cutting edge tools they need as they pursue these new medical discoveries."
